Lela Grace Vaughan, 97, of Westminster, died Wednesday October 2, 2013 at the Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster.

Born July 9, 1916 in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late David Rambler and Nancy Jane Huffman Smith. She was the former wife of the late Melvin Leroy Vaughan.

Years ago, she was a seamstress for 35 years at the Hampstead Clothing Factory. She enjoyed traveling and was a member of Trinity U.C.C. Church in Manchester, MD. She was one of the initial fundraisers for the former Carroll County General Hospital now Carroll Hospital Center. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.



Surviving are her daughters Judith L. Dewrell of Westminster, and Linda G. Stepp and husband David H. of Manchester; her sister Jean Badger of California; and her many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son-in-law Hillary Dewrell and her 11 siblings.

The family will receive friends 10 a.m. Friday until time of funeral service, 11 a.m. at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester with the Rev. Jimmie L. Schwartz officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
