Lester Bevard Ayres, Sr.

Lester Bevard Ayres, Sr., 91, of Finksburg, MD, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2017 in Westminster, MD. Born on August 23, 1926 in Whitehall, MD, he was the son of the late Lester Casson and Maude Bevard Ayres. He was the husband of the late Phyllis Lorene Meacham Ayres.

For most of his life he was a painting and papering contractor. He proudly served his country and was a World War II Navy veteran. Years ago, he was a professional duck pin bowler.

Surviving him are his children: Lester B. Ayres, Jr., of Glenrock, PA, Debra J. Bailey and partner Dave Strine of Millers, MD, Gale L. Hunter and husband Timothy of Finksburg, MD, Daniel W. Ayres and better half Jill Coffey of Millers, MD, Brian S. Ayres of Manchester, MD, and Mark C. Ayres and wife Carol of Millers, MD, 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, siblings: Robert Ayres and wife Lois of Hanover, PA and Doris Denmyer and husband Roger of Lutherville, MD.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, December 6, from 1-3 and 5-7 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102.

Interment is private.
