Lillian Haber Barker, 88, of Catonsville died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at her home.
Born March 18 1924 in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Haber and Esther Marion Sokoler Haber.
Graduated from NYU and Columbia University, Ms. Barker was librarian at Western Maryland (McDaniel) College, Enoch Pratt Library and the Prince Georges Co. library system. She designed and implemented the Baltimore County Interlibrary Loan System. She was a Governor of Toastmasters International and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Surviving are her children Preston Arthur Barker and wife Vilde Hegland of Norway, Michael Barker and wife Betsy of Connecticut, Alice Cockey Higgs and husband Craig of Manchester; her grandchildren Kate Barker –Froyland, Callie Barker, Jennifer Cockey Devers, Alicia Cockey Howell, and David Cockey; her great grandchildren Madison, Delaney, Lacey, Molly, and Quinn Devers; and her brother Jerome Haber of Delray, FL.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester where a funeral service will be held at 8 p.m.
A private cremation will be held at All Faiths Crematory and Chapel in Manchester.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, June, 28th at Charlestown Retirement Community, 715 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville.
Interment with military honors will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 29th at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills.
