Lu Ann Harris Funk age 60 of Hampstead, MD. died suddenly Tuesday July 16, 2013 at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore, MD.

Born May 14, 1953 in Hanover, PA. she was the daughter of the late Sylvia and George Billy Harris.


She was a Graduate of North Carroll High School class of '71.

She was stationed in Japan while serving in the Army and was a Russian linguist and interpreter, receiving numerous commendations and awards. Her post-military career included positions in credit management and later attended culinary school, earning her degree and worked in many areas of the food service industry.

She loved spending time with her family and friends and following sports.

She is survived by her sisters: Dottie Rossow and husband Wally of Englewood, FL; and Vicky Shaffer and husband Robert of Hampstead, MD. nieces and nephews: Rich Yelton of Valrico, FL; Kelly Mountcastle and Jennifer Lettau both of Hampstead, MD. and step-nephew: Nick Shaffer of Westminster, MD. She is also survived by 8 grand-nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Lu's life with family and friends will planned for a late date.

Memorial donations honoring Lu's life may be directed to the University of Maryland of Medicine Program in Trauma, Office of Development, 31 S. Green St. Baltimore, MD. 21201.
