Myra Loray Hawn, 87, of Westminster, MD, passed peacefully Thursday, November 10, 2016 at her residence. Born May 23, 1929 in North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Grace Belle Garland. She was the wife of 61 years to Richard Earl Hawn.
Loray was a graduate of Manchester High School. She was employed at Black and Decker for 30 years. She had also worked at Towne Pride Interiors. She was a very active member of the Church of the Open Door. She was an accomplished seamstress, lovingly sewing for family and the community. She was also an avid gardener.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are her children: George Richard Cole of Ocala Florida, and Jennifer Loray Hawn of Westminster MD, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great- great grandchild, her sister Jean Werner of Tennessee and her brother Rev. Roger Garland of California.
She was predeceased by siblings Faye Frock and Hazen Garland.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 2-4 and 7-9pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, November 15, at the Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd, Westminster, MD 21157, officiated by Dr. Norris E. Belcher, Jr.
Interment is private.
