M. Gertrude Kipe

M. Gertrude Kipe, 90, of Hampstead, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Carroll Hospital Center. Born on January 21, 1927 in Parkton, MD, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret Buchanan Hoover.

Years ago, Gertie was a seamstress and worked in a sewing factory. She professed to have a strong faith and was a devoted member of Hampstead Baptist Church. She enjoyed her family, her cats, and loved gardening.

Surviving her are children: William Dana Seipp of Hampstead, MD, Harold Lloyd Kipe, Jr. and companion Christine Courville of Snydersburg, MD, David S. Kipe and wife Amy of Manchester, MD, grandchildren: Amy, Laurie, Amber, Mandy, Tyler, Koty, Charles, and Olivia, 8 great grandchildren, and a sister: Lillian Bartenslager of Glen Rock, PA.

She was predeceased by a grandchild: Thomas, and two siblings: Harry Hoover, and Burnette Lang.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, November 14, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 15, at 11 am. Interment to follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Parkton, MD.
