Mardell Theresa Peterson, 75, of Manchester, MD, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born on October 2, 1942, in Rosedale, MD, she was the daughter of the late William Classing Sr., and Theresa Wilhelmina Bohlen Classing. She was the wife of Richard Mose Peterson for 54 years.
Years ago, she worked at Carroll County Bank in Westminster, and had her own cleaning business. She was a 1960 graduate of North Carroll High School. Mardell was a member of Millers United Methodist Church where she was involved in the Ladies Aid Society and church choir. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, oil-painting, gardening, flowers, horses, and taking care of her home.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children: Dawn Marie Wells of Lafayette, TN, Jannette Lee Chamberlain of Johnstown, NY, and Angela Kay Ahrens of Littlestown, PA, grandchildren: Kyle, Justin, Brandon, Hannah, Alyssa, Heidi, Caitlyn, and Andrew, step grandchildren: Joey, Dillon, Kacie, Elsie, a great grandchild: Amelia, and siblings: William Classing, Jr., of Hagerstown, MD, Valentine Classing of Hampstead, MD, John Classing of Manchester, MD, and Mary Nickoles of Millers, MD.
She was predeceased by siblings: Jimmy Classing and Birdie Classing.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 12, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, at 10 am at Millers United Methodist Church, 3435 Warehime Rd, Manchester, MD 21102, officiated by Rev. Blake Smarr. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
