Margaret Ann Hanes

Margaret Ann Hanes, 90, of Manchester, MD, passed away on June 30, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family. Born on January 15, 1936, in Erie, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Hackman) Ackerman. She was the beloved wife of the late Jerome Hanes, who passed away in 2000, and mother of Cynthia Hanes, who passed away in 1982. She was also predeceased by three of her brothers: Robert, Richard, and Joseph.

Margaret graduated from the Villa Maria Academy and Erie Business Center. She worked at GE Motors and then worked as a dental assistant. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, art and painting, and working in her flower gardens. She attended Grace Bible Church and Church of the Open Door. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend.

Surviving her are children: Kimberly Brenneman (Gary), Robert Hanes (Jennifer), grandchildren: Timothy Smith (Sarah), Robert Smith (Danielle), Krista Wellein (Patrick), Hannah Hanes, Rowan Hanes, step-grandchildren: James Brenneman (Kim), Jennifer Farel (John), Ashley Bentley, great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren: Joshua (Riley), Tyler, Benson, Camden, Timothy, Ethan, Tiffany, Kayla, and Donny. She is also survived by her brother: Donald Ackerman, sister-in-law: Donna Daley, and brother-in-law: Thomas Hanes.
