Margaret Louise Merkel

Margaret Louise Merkel of Gwynn Oak, Maryland passed away on February 3, 2017.  She was 94 years old.  She was born March 26, 1922 in Westminster, Maryland to the late Walter and Ruth Sullivan.

She was a retired account clerk for the former Montrose School and was a Maryland State Employee for many years.  Mrs. Merkel was a proud veteran of WWII serving as a WAVE and a loyal member of the Reisterstown United Methodist Church along with the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Neil Merkel of Catonsville, MD. and John Merkel of Westerly, Rhode Island; her grandchildren Seth, Calli, Laura, Jana and Stefan.  She was predeceased by her husband John Walter Merkel, her two brothers Ivan Sullivan, George Sullivan and her two sisters, Dorothy Trump and Edith Sullivan.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday Feb. 8, 2017 from 3-5 & 7-9pm at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel 11605 Reisterstown Rd.  Owings Mills, MD.  where services will be held on Thursday Feb. 9, 2017 at 10am, with Rev. Vivian McCarthy officiating. Interment to follow in Reisterstown United Methodist Church Cemetery.
