Maria R. Garcia

Maria R. Garcia, 89, of Reisterstown, MD, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at her home. Born on September 7, 1930, in Guatemala, she was the daughter of the late Vicente and Olivia Gonzales Ayfan. She was the loving wife of the late Jose V. Gandia.

Maria loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 35 years. Maria was an admired member of the Hispanic community, and she would often pray rosaries when friends in the community would lose loved ones. She was truly devoted and a hard worker.

Surviving her are children: David Garcia, Hector Garcia, Jose Antonio Trujillo, Alejandro Trujillo, and Gladys Chacon, many grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and her extended family in Guatemala.

She was predeceased by daughters: Maria Consuelo Trujillo and Maria Teresa Garcia.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, September 17, from 5-9 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 18, at 10 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 63 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, MD 21071. Interment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, MD.
