Martha Elizabeth "Betty" Westervelt Luker, 75, of Hampstead, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born March 28, 1934, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Richard W. and Helen Drenning, and James and Martha Blatter Drenning Soder. Twice married, she was the wife of the late William DeRyee Westervelt Jr. and the late Billy Ray Luker.
She was a housewife and attended Hampstead Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Bill II and Joan Westervelt, of Hagerstown, Kenneth and Janet Westervelt, of Timonium, and Bruce and Leslie Westervelt, of Westminster; daughters and sons-in-law Beth and Rodney Palmer, of Hampstead, and Donna and Jeff Petry, of Hampstead; brothers Bob and Ricky Drenning, both of Florida, and Mike Soder, of Parkton; sisters Janet VanderVliet, of California, Lynn Beran, of Chicago, and Elaine Luthy, of Georgia; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Drenning.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Chris Brammer officiating. Interment will be in Mount Zion Church Cemetery in Freeland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hampstead Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 95, Hampstead, MD 21074.
