Surrounded by family, Martha Seaman Taylor, 84, of Reisterstown, MD, passed to the Father on Monday, July 24, 2023. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Taylor; Martha is survived by her beloved son Greg Taylor and his wife Marla of Bishopville, MD, grandchildren Mandy, Seth, and Matthew, and great-grandchildren Randy and Ashton. She was predeceased by her biological and foster parents; by brothers Clark, Alan, William, and Joseph Seaman; and by sisters Nancy Gibilisco, Janet Seaman, and Esther (Snookie) Seaman. Martha is survived by her brother David Seaman of Tempe, AZ, by sister Ruth Smith of Columbia, MD, and by brother Ray Thorne of Westerville, OH. In addition, she is survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and close friends.
She was the seventh child of Albert Leroy Seaman and Clara Frances Leichliter of Connellsville, PA, and the foster daughter of Burley and Ella Hoover of Uniontown, PA. At an early age Martha put Jesus Christ on in baptism and, with the Spirit in her heart, served Him faithfully her entire life. In 1957 she graduated valedictorian of Georges Township High School and joined the Gallatin National Bank where she remained employed until 1973. Martha married the love of her life, Daniel Taylor, on November 3rd of that year. She then moved to the Baltimore area where she worked for the Social Security Administration for 22 years.
Martha was a member of the High House Church of God near Uniontown, PA, for 28 years. After moving to Maryland, she served the Lord at the Harvest Church of God. She was well known for her servant heart, and brightened the lives of all those who knew her. Through the years she served as a Bible class teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, church organist, pianist, church bulletin editor, and choir member. Her love of music started at an early age, and her singing talent resulted in several local, district, and state awards. Martha was also a good cook and excellent baker, and many looked forward to her pumpkin bread gifts at Christmas time.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 28, from 4 until 7 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
The family will again receive visitors on Saturday, July 29, from 9:30 until 10:30 am at the HARVEST CHURCH OF GOD, 605 Westminster Pike, Reisterstown, MD 21136, where the funeral service will begin at 10:30 am.
A celebration of Martha's life will follow at time with interment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, MD.
The family is requesting in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Harvest Church of God, 605 Westminster Pike, Reisterstown, MD 21136.
