Mary "Betty" Elizabeth Affleck, 90, of Reisterstown, MD, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Long View Healthcare Center in Manchester, MD. Born on June 5, 1931 in Hazleton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew John and Anna Zurasky Gudalewsky. She was the beloved wife of the late Fred D. Affleck, who passed away in 2013.
Years ago, Betty worked as a Freight Accountant for CSX. At CSX, she rose through the ranks, was always learning, and broke many a glass ceiling for women everywhere in the workforce. Betty was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she would cook and donate large meals for those in need. She was also a longtime member of A.S.K. Matthew 7:7 Wednesday AM Bible Study, and always looked forward to their yearly Christmas Cantata at Trinity Assembly of God in Lutherville, MD. She was an advocate for the Westminster Rescue Mission. In her younger years, Betty and her husband could frequently be found at local beaches with their three children, and she had an amazing memory for recalling map directions and which routes to take. She enjoyed camping with friends, Hallmark Christmas movies, and above all else, she loved spending time with her sons and family.
Surviving her are sons: John F. Affleck and wife Carrie, Steven E. Affleck and wife Karen, and Michael L. Affleck and wife Heather, grandchildren: Ashley and husband Sean, Lindsay, Rachel, Pierce, and Livia, and a great-granddaughter: Chloe.
She was predeceased by siblings: Andrew "Andy" Gudalewsky, Anastasia "Stasia" Fife, and Nellie O'Shea.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10 am, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (Historic Church), 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Reisterstown, MD 21136.
