Mary Amanda Ellen Black, 92, of Manchester died at Hanover Hall Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Hanover, PA on Oct. 22, 2007. She was born August 30, 1915 in Westminster and was the daughter of the late George Washington and Emma Weaver Baumgardner. She was the wife of 57 years to the late Cletus John Henry Black.
Mrs. Black worked for the Hanover Maternity Shop, Hanover, PA and Manchester Super Thrift Grocery Store, Manchester. She enjoyed caring for her family. She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manchester and the Hanover Moose, Hanover, PA.
Surviving her is a son Eugene M. Black, Manchester, a daughter Cindy Ellen Rill, Hampstead, a brother Irvin Baumgardner, Dover, PA, a sister Helen Fritz, New Oxford, PA, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, predeceased by a son Robert K. Black, a brother Elmer Baumgardner, and two sisters Romaine Uffleman and Grace Shriver.
A funeral service will held on Thursday, at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3184 Church Street, Manchester with the Revs. Matthew and Norma Schenning officiating. Interment will be in the New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester. Friends may call Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church.
