Mary Alice Hare age 78 of Millers, MD died Friday, April 11, 2014 at her home.
Born December 12, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Lannie Grover and Carrie Smith Harper. She was the wife of 52 years to Gene O. Hare.
Years ago she worked as a Hairdresser at Hecht's Dept. Store in Baltimore and owned her own shop. Later she was a sales clerk for Leggetts Dept. Store. She was a member of Miller's United Methodist Church where she was active with the Miller's Ladies Aid and enjoyed cooking meals at the church picnic woods. She also enjoyed gardening and her dog "Bo".
Surviving are her daughters: Sherry Rill and husband Allen of Westminster, and Carol Sheffler and husband David of Manchester, MD, her grandchildren : Allison and Cassidy Rill and Nicholas and Natalie Sheffler, siblings: Roy Harper of Millers, Richard Harper of the Eastern Shore,; Betty Moyer of South Carolina Birtie Martin of Hampstead and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her grand daughter: Mary Sheffler and siblings: Paul, Grove and Blair Harper, Rose Fowler, Mable Harper and Katherine Warehime.
The family will receive friends from 10-11a.m. Monday at Miller's United Methodist Church, 3435 Warehime Road, Millers, MD where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Jeffrey Odom officiating.
Interment will be in Miller's United Methodist Church Cemetery, Millers, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Miller's United Methodist Church Picnic Woods Renovation Fund, 3435 Warehime Rd. Millers, MD 21102.
Arrangements are by the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel P.A. Manchester, MD.
