Mary Lou Stromer

Mary Lou Stromer, 96, of Reisterstown, MD, passed away on August 14, 2026, at BridgingLife Dove House in Westminster, MD. Born on January 10, 1930, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Henry Killian Stromer and Annette Staylor Stromer.

Mary Lou was a graduate of Union Memorial Hospital, School of Nursing, Class of 1951. She continued her studies at The Catholic University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She attended Columbia University Teachers’ College where she graduated with her master’s degree, and lastly graduated with her Doctorate in education from Nova Southeastern University. Mary Lou opened the associate degree nursing program at Catonsville Community College and remained there as educator for 25 years. She was a loyal and active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Glyndon, MD.

Surviving her is her cousin: Georgia Stromer of Leesburg, VA, and many dear friends.

She was predeceased by her brother: Henry Killian Stromer, Jr.

A memorial gathering will be held in the narthex of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 63 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, MD 21071, on Saturday, September 26, from 9 - 9:45 am, prior to the Memorial Mass that will begin at 10 am. Visitors are encouraged to wear bright, floral colors to represent Mary Lou's joyful spirit and love of flowers. For your convienence, parking is also available on the school side.

A graveside inurnment will take place on Tuesday, September 29, at 11 am at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5829 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Lou’s name may be offered to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, PO Box 3672, Glyndon, MD 21071, or to Catholic Relief Services, 228 W Lexington St, Baltimore, MD 21201.
