Mary Alice Tracey

Mary Alice (Taylor) Tracey, 97, of New Oxford, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Gettysburg Hospital.  Born on August 5, 1926, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late James Edwards Taylor and Dorothy Walker Taylor.  She was married on September 13, 1947, to Joseph William Tracey, who died on June 2, 2016.

Mary attended Western Maryland College for two years.  She worked for the Wilmer Eye Institute, Green Spring Dairy, and Hampstead Bank.  She spent most of her time at home raising her children.

Mary and Joe lived in Towson until 1957 when they moved to the farm near Hampstead, MD.  In 2000, they moved to The Brethren Home at Crosskeys Village, New Oxford, PA.

She enjoyed sewing and quilting, reading and puzzles.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  She was a very kind and loving person.

Mary is survived by her children: Joseph F. Tracey and companion Andrea Ganesh, William K. Tracey and wife Karen, Nancy Hare and husband Todd, Peggy England and husband Charles, 9 grandchildren: Angela Nebzydoski, James Berry, Joseph Tracey, Sarah Carter, Paul Hare, Mark Hare, Westley England, Erin England, Luke England, and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, December 28, from 3-4 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, where a funeral service will begin at 4 pm, with Rev. Todd Hare officiating.

Interment is private.
