Mary Barbara Weyandt (nee Beeker), age 69, of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016 after a long fought battle with cancer. Beloved companion of John Barley. Daughter of Wilbur and Ruth Beeker (deceased). Devoted mother of Patrick Donovan Jr. (deceased) and Gregory Donovan and wife Moira. Grandmother of Jack, Kate, and Colin. Sister of Joanne Clurman (deceased), Nancy Brockmeyer, Jane Daw, Patricia Sachs, Paul Beeker, and Jennifer Nilsen. Beloved by extended family members.
After a long career as a technical writer and editor at the Army Environmental Hygiene Agency at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Barbara started her own company, Weyandt and Associates. In this capacity she served as a facilitator and technical writer for various organizations within the Department of Defense. In this role, she was key in advancing policy and initiatives designed to protect the health of Soldiers, Sailors, Airman, and the Civilian workforce by reducing or eliminating exposures to work related chemical and physical stressors.
Barbara was blessed with many talents. She loved to cook, entertain, and travel the world. She lived her life with passion, compassion for others, and wonderment.
A memorial mass to celebrate Barbara's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 23, 2013 at Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester, Maryland 21102.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gilchrist Hospice Care, Inc., 11311 McCormick Road, Suite 350, Hunt Valley, Maryland 21031.
