Marylou Gist, 75, of Hanover, PA died Wednesday June 24, 2009 at her home.

Born April 16, 1934 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Virgie M. "Sis" Piper and the late Roland B. Wisner.

She was the loving wife of Thomas P. Gist with whom she celebrated 54 years of marriage on April 9, 2009.

Marylou was a loving mother and homemaker.

She was a member of Hope Baptist Church, where she taught the Jr. girls Sunday School Class. She was the head librarian for the church and school.

Surviving in addition to her husband is her son James T. Gist of Littlestown, PA, her daughter Colleen M. and husband David L. Pyles of Hanover, PA, and her daughter Michele R. and husband Michael E. Magara, Sr. of Mechanicsburg, PA; her sister Virginia L. Franz of Hanover, PA; her step brother R. Eugene Piper of Baltimore, her step sister Elaine Shull of Georgia; and 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nephews.

She was predeceased by her step father Sterling S. Piper, her grandchildren Steven P. Gist and Laura J. Gist and her nephew John F. Hayden, V and her niece Debra L. McKay.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9p.m. at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Baptist Church, 6450 Hope Way, Hanover, PA with Rev. Allen G. Harris officiating.

Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville.
