Maynard William Martz, Sr., 82 years old of Manchester, died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Johns Hopkins Bay View Hospital.
Born February 14, 1927 in Maryland, he was the son of the late George Maynard Martz and Ava Irene Keyser Martz.
He was the husband for 60 years of Ethel Anna Wilson Martz.
Mr. Martz served honorably with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was a member of the Alesia Free Methodist Church in Manchester and a member of the American Legion Post 200 in Hampstead. He enjoyed farming and hunting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Yvonne Gardner and her husband Dave of Hampstead, Lucinda Martz of Elkridge, Patricia Cuffley and Greg Keller of Manchester, Maynard W. Martz, Jr. of Little Orleans, MD., and Tina Simpson of Oakland, MD.
He was the grandfather of 7 and great grandfather of 5.
Brother of Eleanor Wampler of Eldersburg, Edna Bollinger and Viola Shipley both of Westminster and Marie Peterson of Artemas, PA.
He was predeceased by a brother and sister, Kermit Martz and Luella Stem.
Friends may call at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel P.A., 3296 Charmil Dr.,Manchester, MD.21102 on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:00 PM.
Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
