Medessa Gertrude Brown

Medessa Gertrude Brown, 86, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Born on January 6, 1933, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph N. and Gertrude Elizabeth Horsey Battle. She was the loving wife of the late Phillip Brown.

Medessa loved watching westerns and making fashion statements with her clothing, makeup and jewelry. She made a lasting impression on every single person she met. She was a feisty woman, and she was very much loved by her family and friends.

Surviving her are children: Ronald Brown, Jacqueline Brown, Lisa Shields, Michelle Brown, and Michael Brown, grandchildren: Shawn Brown, Nicole Clifton, Christopher Brown, Steven Brown, Derick Chana, Jamie Brown, Jessica Smith, Brandon Shields, and Brittany Brown, 14 great-grandchildren, and siblings: Gloria Williams and Daisy Bryant.

She was predeceased by a daughter: Pamela Brown, and siblings: Joseph Battle, Jr., Herbert Battle, Ann Davis, Harvey Battle, Edward Battle, and Robert Battle.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, June 3, from 7-9 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, at 10 am. Interment to follow in Johnsville Methodist Church Cemetery, Sykesville, MD.
