Michael Sellman Bixler, 67, of Hanover, PA died Wednesday February 6, 2013 at his home.

Born August 26, 1945 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Paul Sellman and Jeanne Babylon Bixler. He was the husband of Judy Alban Bixler, his wife of 40 years.


He was a job service supervisor for the State of Maryland with 40 years of service retiring in 2009. He was a 1963 graduate of Westminster High School and a 1968 graduate of the University of Baltimore.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester, MD., the Republican Club of Hanover and the Hanover Cyclers Club for 30 years. An avid bicyclist he enjoyed riding his bike and had ridden over 100,000 miles, which he had tracked on each trip.

He was an avid sports fan and was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends.


Surviving in addition to his wife are his children Bryan Daniel Bixler and wife Kristy of Spring Grove, PA, and Meghan Elizabeth Lee and husband Christopher of Charlotte, NC; a brother Paul Scott Bixler of Union Bridge; a granddaughter Ava Elizabeth Lee; and nephew Mark Bixler of Westminster.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9p.m. at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday with the Revs. Matthew S. and Norma L. Schenning officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
