Mildred Katie Grote age 86 of New Oxford, PA. formally of Hampstead, MD. died Sunday Jan. 23, 2011 at The Brethren Home in New Oxford, PA.
Born Nov. 24, 1924 in Brodbecks, PA. she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Carrie Sterner Berwager. She was the wife of the late Albert Nevin Grote who died Dec. 8, 2007.
She was a homemaker. She was a volunteer at The Brethren Home and was in the ladies auxiliary at the Westminster Rescue Mission. She was also a member of Grace Bible Church in Manchester, MD. She was also involved in a Ladies Bible Study in Manchester, MD. She enjoyed being involved in the Super Sixties of the Church of the Open Door in Westminster, MD. and many other religious organizations and activities.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law: Dale L. and Dianne L. Grote of Hampstead, MD., daughter and son in law: Diane M. and Richard B. Jackson of Manchester, MD. and a son and daughter in law: Dennis L. and C. Elaine Grote of Hampstead, MD. Brothers: Clyde Berwager and Jacob Berwager both of Hanover, PA. She is also survived by 5 granddaughters, 1 step grandson, 11 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am. Wednesday at Grace Bible Church, 3250 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. with the Rev. Paul R. Wenzel officiating.
Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
Friends may call at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. or at the church from 9:30 until the time of service on Wednesday.
