Millie graduated from earth with honors on December 15, 2020 at peace and surrounded by loving family. The family would like to thank the staff at Lorien Taneytown for taking such excellent care of our mother.
Millie and her four siblings grew up in Hampton, VA with Bruckroe Beach as their backyard. She played oboe, excelled in school, and was recruited by LangLey AFB as a "math computer." Instead, she chose to marry a man who made her laugh, moved to the Maryland countryside and filled a farmhouse with six children and assorted pets.
While working full time and raising children, she went back to school in her 40's and graduated with honors from Towson University. This led to a career she enjoyed with the Federal Government. After retirement, Millie fused her love of art and math and focused on quilting. She belonged to several guilds, taught quilting, and tried to visit every fabric store in North America. A mind-blowing retrospective of her work filled a church hall to the rafters.
Millie was a bright, creative woman with extraordinary energy. She loved art, music, science, dogs, gardening, chocolate, and Christmas. She cherished her friends and family.
Survived by her brother: Ray Parker, sister: Linda Boyd, her children: Patricia Tracey, John F. Tracey, Jan Tracey, Richard Tracey, Mike Tracey, his wife Kris, and their children Zach, Ben and Natalie, whom she adored, along with all her in-laws, nieces, nephews, and extended family. She inspires us all.
Millie is predeceased by her husband: John C. Tracey, daughter: Carol D. Scott, brother: Benny Parker, and sister: Jean Arnold.
Funeral services are private. A private burial is planned with immediate family and a celebration of Millie's life will follow later next year.
In lieu of flowers, make something beautiful, plant something beautiful or support STEM education for girls.
Arrangements are by the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A, Manchester, MD.
