Nancy Ann (Aultman) Hewitt, 81, a resident at the Maryland Masonic Homes ("Bonnie Blink") in Cockeysville, MD, formerly of Hollidaysburg, PA, Milford, NH, and Reisterstown, MD died Sunday, February 25 th .
She was born in Juniata, PA to the late Kenneth R. and Maxine (Gable) Aultman. On April 20, 1957, she married Robert S. "Bob" Hewitt at the Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two daughters and three sons: Julie A. Hewitt (Susan Kennedy) of Takoma Park, MD; Judith A. Hewitt (Bret Hassel) of Woodbine, MD; Kenneth R. Hewitt (Ray Hoffman) of Marydel, MD; Brian K. Hewitt (Charity) of Lake Forest, CA, and Craig S. Hewitt (Bethany Birago) of Reisterstown, MD; seven grandchildren: Riley, Sam, Neal, Luna, Lucy, Jillian and Emmett; and sister Judith L. Aultman of Rochester, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 59 years, Bob, and a brother, Jame s R. Aultman.
Nancy was a 1954 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and earned an Associate of Arts degree at Catonsville Community College in 1987, making the Dean's list. In addition to raising five children, she was an avid quilter, and worked to support her habit, at the Baltimore County Public Schools, the U.S. Census Bureau, and Sewfisticated Fabrics, where she was a store manager.
She was a member of Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church, a member of Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile, Dorcas Temple No. 129. Among other positions, she served as Queen, Dorcas Temple.
When she and Bob moved to New Hampshire, they were enthusiastic square dancers and enjoyed traveling to national gatherings where they would visit with friends from Maryland, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. When they retired and moved back to Pennsylvania, they continued traveling, adding Masonic and Daughters of the Nile conventions along with traveling across Canada by train, taking a cruise through the Panama Canal, and visiting grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 pm, Sunday, March 11 th at ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Maryland Masonic Homes, 300 International Cir, Cockeysville, MD 21030 at 11am on Monday, March 12 th , with Rev. Henry Thompson presiding. Friends will also be received at Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1200 4th Ave, Duncansville, PA 16635 at 9:30 am on Wednesday, March 14 th , followed by a memorial service at 11 am with Rev. Jaime G. Olson presiding. A private interment will be held at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
