Norma J. Hughes, 79, of Westminster passed away, from complications of cancer, Friday, July 8, 2016 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. Born May 13, 1937 in Meriden, WV, she was the 1st child of the late Charles Mitchell and Bessie Costello Mitchell Stockton. She was the wife of David Hughes, her husband passed away November 20, 1991. She was a member of Kirkridge Presbyterian Church. She worked briefly for the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn. For most of her life she was a homemaker and a daycare provider for friend's children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards with her church friends. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law Tim and Bobbi Hughes of Littlestown, PA, and Dan and Kathy Hughes of Westminster; her grandsons Adam Hughes of Damascus, MD, Garrett Hughes and Kyle Hughes, both of Littlestown, PA; her siblings Patrick Mitchell, Ronnie Stockton, Sherry Stockton Miller, Linda Mitchell Maltz, Katrina Stockton Schock, Eric Mitchell, Cynthia Mitchell Arnett, Randy Stockton; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Wilbert and Judy Hughes, Bev and Ron Dutterer, and Polly Mitchell; and she was predeceased by her brother Charles Mitchell. The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester (21102), where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Interment will be in Kirkridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Hughes's name to the Kirkridge Presbyterian Church, 2236 Old Fort Schoolhouse Road, P.O. Box 773 Manchester, MD 21102.
