On October 2, 2010 Paul LeRoy "Captain Paul", lost his battle to cancer after a long and courageous fight to the end. He never gave up.
He was the beloved husband of Jayne S. Spence (nee Schaeffer), loving father of Matthew P. and Mark G. Spence. Devoted brother of Thomas J. Spence, Miriam A. Flowers, Rose M. James and Helen S. Ross. Loving grandfather of Emma, Isabelle, Gabriella, Sara and Paul Phillipe Spence. He was predeceased by his parents, LeRoy Joseph Spence and Miriam Delores McGrail Spence and his step-mother Petrina Spence.
"Captain Paul" loved sailing on the Chesapeake Bay and other destinations, racking up over 75,000 miles on his journeys. He was an avid amateur meteorologist and a staunch Ravens and O's fan. He loved spending time at his home in Deep Creek Lake with family and friends. He was a Nautical Cartographer who recently retired from N.O.A.A. Department of Commerce.
