Margaret Speno "Peggie" Martin, 74, of Hampstead, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson.
Born Feb. 24, 1938, in Palm Beach, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Francis G. and Margaret Bailey Speno. She was the wife of Alfred R. Martin, her husband of 40 years.
She was a member of St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church and was a mercy associate. She was a parent surrogate and had taught for the Arch Diocese of Baltimore and for the Baltimore County Public Schools.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughter Kimberly Martin Boone and husband Philip III, of Lineboro; step-children Lori Martin, of Ocean City, and Ronald Martin and wife Robyn, of Smyrna, Ga.; grandchildren Caroline, Madison, and Andrew; and siblings Edward Speno, of Timonium, Mary Ann Arrigoni, of North Carolina, and David Speno, of Atlanta, Ga.
She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Speno Jr.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Roach as celebrant.
