Ray Nolan Young, Sr., 76, of Hanover, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at his home. Born on June 18, 1945, in Mt. Gilead, OH, he was the son of the late Donald Laverne and Naomi Bernice Rodman Young. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Joyce Laverne Young.
Ray retired from the Department of Defense as a contracting specialist. He was a lifelong learner, and he was especially proud of his Amateur Extra Class License in Ham Radio. Ray enjoyed tinkering and taking things apart to see how they work, playing word games, and 50's music. He was a devoted husband and father, and he could always be counted on to take care of his family, friends, and neighbors. His legacy as a kind and gentle man will live on with everyone who knew and loved him.
Surviving him in addition to his wife is a son: Ray Nolan Young, Jr., and wife Michelle, and siblings: Robert Young, Kennith Young, and Patricia Ferreira. He was also survived by numerous extended family, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings: Anita Young, Richard Young, Benjamin Young, and David Young.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, July 18, from 3-6 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102.
Funeral services and interment are private.
