Raymond Leo Schwartz, 93 of Finksburg, passed peacefully Thursday April 20, 2017 at the Golden Crest Assisted Living Facility on Albert Rill Rd., Hampstead. Born Nov. 23, 1923 in Baltimore he was the son of the late George and Gertrude Schwartz. He was the husband of 65 years to the late Carvella Lilly "Bella" Carback Schwartz who passed away in August 2006.
Raymond was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 317 th Infantry Regiment of the United States Third Army where he served in campaigns in the Rhineland and Central Europe. Raymond worked several jobs in Baltimore before starting his own business, Hydraulic Service, Inc., in Waverly, Baltimore. Raymond devoted his life to his family and friends. If it was coaching baseball, organizing trips to the ocean, starting a horseback riding club, or opening his home and swimming pool up to family, friends, and neighbors, Raymond was always positively impacting the lives of those around him, especially his children and their friends. He was also a lover of animals and had many horses and dogs as pets throughout his life. Raymond was a life-long fan of the Baltimore Orioles and always made time to take his children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren to an Orioles game and instill a love of baseball into their lives.
Raymond is survived by his daughter, Terry Williams and husband Phil of Manchester, his son, Howard Schwartz and wife Kathy of Reisterstown, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren that loved him dearly.
He was predeceased by sons; Raymond and Ronald Schwartz.
The family will receive friends at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102 on Monday, April 24, from 7 -9 pm, and 10-11 am on Tuesday, April 25, with a funeral service at 11 am. Interment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, MD.
