Raymond Eugene "Sonny" Spangler

Raymond Eugene "Sonny" Spangler, 78, of Westminster passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Dove House in Westminster. Born February 7, 1938 in Union Mills, he was the son of the late Ray Willet Spangler and Isabella Maria Spangler, nee Flickinger. He was the husband of Mary Ann Spangler, nee Schaffer, his wife of 56 years. He was a member of Bixler's United Methodist Church. He was a retired Shop Forman for the Maryland State Highway Department and was a Vietnam veteran of United States Marine Corps serving from 1958-1962. In his spare time, he was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Ravens fan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Vicki Abel and husband Robert, and Lisa Davidson; his grandson Bryce Davidson; and his siblings Donald Spangler, Alice May Hoff, Mary Jean Myers, and Shirley Snyder.
The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016 at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester (21102) with a funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Bixler's United Methodist Church, 3372 Bixler's Church Road, Westminster (21158). Interment will be in Bixler's Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Spangler's name to the Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue; Westminster, MD 21157 or to the Bixler's United Methodist Church, 3282 Charmil Drive; Manchester, MD 21102.
