Reverend E. Joseph (Joe) Hulse, age 84 of Reisterstown, MD. passed into eternal life, Tuesday July 15, 2014 at Cypress Creek Assisted Living in Ruskin, FL.

Born September 1, 1929 in Hutchinson, KS. to Frederick and Caroline Hulse (Griffith).

Joe attended college at Sterling College in Wichita, KS. where he met and married his wife Kathryn (Kay) Mercer. Kay left this earth way too early in 1983.


While a graduate student at Columbia Seminary in Atlanta, GA., he was licensed in Ministry. Later he was elected President of the Huntington, WV Presbyterian Ministers Association. Joe retired from the Department of Health and Human Services after a 30 year career. He was active with the Boy Scouts and helped many troops across the area as a Commissioner. Joe was active with the Lion's Club in Reisterstown and was also active in the Choir at All Saints Episcopal Church in Reisterstown.

Joe loved spending time helping out in the community wherever he could. He also loved gardening, traveling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his family, brother Jim Hulse, son Jon Hulse, daughter and husband Janet McClay and Jack McClay, son David Hulse and son and wife Daniel Hulse and Andrea Hulse. He is also survived by several grandchildren, Heather McClay, Hollie McClay, Jordan Hulse and Evan Hulse.


He was predeceased by his brother Fred Hulse.


The family will receive friends at All Saints Episcopal Church on Chatsworth Avenue, Reisterstown, Saturday August 9, 2014 at 11:00 am for a service and celebration. Interment to follow in the All Saints Episcopal Cemetery, on Bond Ave. Reisterstown, MD.
