Rexter "R.C." Carl Higgins, Sr.

Rexter "R.C." Carl Higgins, Sr., 88, of Glen Rock, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center in Hanover, PA. Born on June 9, 1928, in Johnson City, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Lester and Maude Sparks Higgins. He was the husband of the late Margie R. Tipton Higgins who passed away in 2001.

Rexter "R.C." worked for many years as the owner and operator of Higgins Sawmill. He was a faithful member of Manchester Baptist Church.

Surviving him are his children: Wayne Higgins of Glen Rock, PA, Nell Johnson of Greenmount, NC, Evelyn Beall of Westminster, MD, Wanda Cooper of Greenmount, NC, Rexter Higgins, Jr., of McSherrystown, PA, and Bobby Higgins of Hanover, PA, 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, siblings: Aileene Robinson, Catherine Hughes, Donald Higgins, Dolores Wagner, Millie Price, Frank Higgins, Hilda Robinson, and Paul Higgins.

He was predeceased by siblings: Bernard Higgins and Larry Higgins.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, from 6-8 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, and 10 -11 am on Wednesday, May 31, with a funeral service at 11 am with Rev. Michael Livingston officiating. Interment to follow in Manchester Baptist Church Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
