Richard Merton Jones, Sr.

Richard Merton Jones, Sr., 86, of Millers, MD, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Carroll Senior Living in Westminster, MD. Born on September 8, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of the late Henry Clay Jones and Elizabeth May Jones (nee Ott). He was the husband of the late Carolyn Temple Jones (nee Menzel), who passed away in 2016.

Richard worked for many years as a master machinist for Sweetheart Cup Company. He was a member of the Seitzland Rifle Range and was also a life member of the NRA.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Surviving him are children: Karen Risner and husband Mark of Hampstead, Rick Jones, Jr., of Eldersburg, Kathleen Thompson and husband Jim Sr., of Manchester, William Jones, Sr., and wife Stacey of Hampstead and Andrew Jones and wife Tessa of Pittsburgh, PA,  grandchildren: Jimmy and wife Shannon, Daniel and wife Erica, Conner and wife Sarah, Samantha, Matthew, William Jr., Kelly, Katelyn, Ethan, Emily and Daisy,  great grandchildren: Brooke, Gavin, and Taylor, and a brother: Vernon Jones of Nevada.

He was predeceased by a sister: Audrey Tate.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, September 25, from 6-9 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 pm. Interment to follow in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
