Robert Lee Allen, 76, of Owings Mills died unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at his home.
Born June 19, 1932, in St. Joseph, Mo., he was the son of the late Darrel William and Thelma Hubbard Allen. He was the husband of Jane A. Marquess Allen, his wife of 53 years.
He had worked for 35 years for the O'Meara Construction Co. as a superintendent.
He was a member of the Reisterstown Moose. He was an avid reader, and he enjoyed camping, fishing, wood working, fixing up his home and spending time in the West Virginia mountains.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Linda Kindred of Owings Mills, Vicky Turek of Kingsville, Robert L. Allen Jr. of Westminster, Darrel Allen of Cape Cartaret, N.C., and Sherri Shields of Silver Run; a brother, William Wayne Allen of Missouri; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Herbert Wayne Reall.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association, 415 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21201; or the American Diabetes Association, 800 Wyman Park Drive, Suite 110, Baltimore, MD 21211.
