Robert Reynolds "Buzz" Williams, 78, of Owings Mills died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville.
Born Sept. 10, 1930, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Palmer F.C. Williams and Louise McRae Whittaker. He was the husband of Joyce Fisher Williams, his wife of 53 years.
He was a graduate of Gilman School, class of 1948, and Johns Hopkins University, class of 1952. He served in the National Guard from 1948 to 1957.
He had worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 36 years, then joined the Joshan Co. and finally worked at RRW & Assoc. until his death.
He was a member of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Retirement Group and the Johns Hopkins Club. He enjoyed traveling to Ocean City, Vermont and Florida.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Deborah L. and Robert R. Williams Jr.; brothers Palmer F.C. Williams Jr. and Dr. McRae W. Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 17 at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service Oct. 17, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
