Robert William Fogle, III, 58, of Westminster died suddenly in the line of duty, Friday, May 30, 2014 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore.
Born December 4, 1955 in Frederick, he was the son of Janet M. Wagner Fogle of Hanover, PA and the late Robert W. Fogle, II. He was the husband of Carol Ann Myers Fogle, his wife of 30 years.
He was a career fire fighter for the Baltimore County Fire Department. Years ago, prior to his career with the Baltimore County Fire Department, he worked for Crouse Ford. He was a 1976 graduate of the Francis Scott Key High School.
In addition to his work with the fire department, he was an instructor for the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute, Carroll County Career and Technology Center in the EST program, and had taught CPR for many years for the American Heart Association and Carroll Community College.
He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Department, a past member of the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Department, and was a former member of the Mid Atlantic Search and Rescue.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and was active in many hobbies such as playing golf, listening and playing blue grass music, woodworking, and traveling. Furthermore, he was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan, and a gifted musician and teacher of Fire and Rescue classes.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are his children Garrett W. Fogle and Casey J. Fogle both of Westminster, his sister Pamela Fogle Shook of Mt. Airy, his half brother Gregory Frock and half sister Victoria L. Kline both of Pennsylvania.
A private cremation was held at All Faiths Crematory and Chapel, Manchester. The family will receive friends 2 to 8 p.m. for a memorial gathering Wednesday at the Pleasant Valley Fire Department, 2030 Pleasant Valley Road, Westminster, where a memorial service with full fire department honors will be held 10 a.m. Thursday with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating.
