Robert Rhoten Grimes, 76, of Manchester died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born Aug. 9, 1932, in Boring, he was the son of the late James Wilson and Anna Marie Rhoten Grimes. He was the husband of Hilda Miles Grimes, his wife of almost 50 years.
He was a retired materials inspector for the State of Maryland. He attended Faith Community Bible Church in Silver Run.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter and son-in-law Luann Grimes Eyring and Edward Eyring Jr. of Abingdon; grandchildren Samuel, Jonathan and David Eyring, all of Abingdon; sister Audrey L. Hossler of Manchester; and a brother, David W. Grimes of Fort Worth, Texas.
He was predeceased by a brother, James Kenneth Grimes.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, with the Rev. John Stiles officiating. Interment will be held in St. Davids Cemetery in Hanover, Pa.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
