Robert "Bob" John Niemeyer, 81, of Hampstead, MD, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at BridgingLife Dove House, formerly known as Carroll Hospice, in Westminster, MD. Born on July 20, 1940, in Dallas, PA, he was the son of the late William Frederick Niemeyer and Anna Dorothy Verfaillie Niemeyer. He was the beloved husband of Virginia Claire Walters Niemeyer.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Air Force Reserves. Years ago, he worked for the Social Security Administration doing research and development. He enjoyed fishing, collecting baseball cards, coaching little league, and watching his grandsons play sports. He loved hosting the annual 4th of July family reunion.
Surviving in addition to his wife is daughter: Dawn Vaughn and husband William Robert, Jr. of Hampstead, MD, grandchildren: Robbie Vaughn and wife Megan, Christopher John Vaughn and wife Amy, great-grandchildren: Wynn, Ty, Davis, Rory, Sawyer, Brody, and Oliver, and brothers: Kevin Niemeyer of West Virginia and William Niemeyer of Pennsylvania. Bob is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 2-4 pm, with prayers at 4 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102.
Interment is private.
