Robert Dixon Kagle, 81, of Baltimore formerly of Reisterstown died Friday, April 25, 2008 after a brief illness at Northwest Hospital Hospice in Randallstown.
He was born in Owings Mills on January 1, 1927 and was the son of the late Jesse Lee Kagle, Sr. and Alice Dixon Kagle. He was the husband of the late Jeanne Marie Slep Kagle, who passed away on July 19, 2002.
Mr. Kagle was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1943. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and was honorably discharged.
He worked for the firm of Charles T. King, then for Montgomery Ward, and finally for Baltimore, Gas, and Electric as an operator and steam fitter, from which he retired after many years of service.
Upon his retirement he enjoyed many morning walks with close friends, trekking around Fort McHenry and the Baltimore Inner Harbor areas.
Surviving are his daughter Kim Marie Kagle; sister in law Audrey Bowling Kagle; sisters and brothers in law Elizabeth and Ernest Herrera of California, Sonya and Walter Welsh of Reisterstown; nephews Eric Kagle, Scott Kagle, and Kevin Welsh; nieces Jessica Bachtell, Reagan Wolfe, Meredith Shutler, Kelly Sweatman, and Sherry Burns and all their families.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jesse L. Kagle, Jr. and his long time friend Rita Romelias.
A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills.
Interment will be in Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
