Robert Ellsworth Ripley, Sr., 91, of Finksburg, MD, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at his home. Born on January 25, 1930, in Battle Creek, MI, he was the son of the late Duward Wills and Jessie James Ripley. He was the beloved husband of Jeannette Rose Ripley.
Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, and he served during the Korean War. He retired from Pittsburgh Plate and Glass, where he worked as a manager. Robert was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Old Line Statesman Barbershop Chorus. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening any and all kinds of vegetables, model cars, and airplanes.
Surviving him in addition to his wife are children: Joan Levy and husband Stewart, and Robert E. Ripley, Jr., and wife Darla, grandchildren: Robyn Levy, Michael Levy, Benjamin Taylor and wife Sarah, and Laura Gery and husband Randy, and great-grandchildren: Samuel, Lydia, and Brandt.
He was predeceased by sisters: Hope, Susan, and Marsha.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 2 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 63 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, MD, where a Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 am.
Interment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, MD.
