Robert Wayne Thompson, Sr., 70, of Hampstead died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Born on January 21, 1940 in Maryland, he was the son of the late Donald McClellan Thompson and Martha Elizabeth Long Thompson. He was the husband of Betty Ruth Rill Thompson, his wife of 42 years.
He was a retired mechanic for C.J. Miller. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling to Casinos, going bowling, playing poker and senior citizen bingo. In addition, he loved to watch the Orioles, NASCAR, and game shows.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his sons and daughters in law Robert W., Jr. and Kimberly and Jeffrey and Missy Thompson; his step sons and daughter in law Allan and Kathy and Jeffrey Palmer; his grandchildren Jessica, Christina, Erica, Bradly, Danielle, Derrick, and Jay; his great grandson Lucas; his brother and sister in law David Carroll and Diane Thompson; and his sister Julia Ann Thompson.
He was predeceased by his brother Donald Edward Thompson.
The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester where a funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
