Roland "Bud" Smith age 87 of Manchester, MD. died Friday May 25, 2012 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD.
Born January 25, 1925 in Manchester, MD., he was the son of the late Paul and Bessie Shaffer Smith. He was the husband of the late Alice Street Smith who died in 2005.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator for LaFarge (Harry T. Campbell). He was a musician and enjoyed playing guitars and mandolins since the age of 10. He played music at the Manchester Senior Center.
He is survived by his daughters and sons in law: Karen and Robert L. Martin of Hampstead, MD. and Theresa and David Young of Raphine, VA. Grandchildren: John R. Kilgore III, Karen Heenan and Amanda Kilgore. Sister: Naomi Myers of Westminster, MD. Sister in laws: Velma Beil, Sylvia Jackson and Lydia Yox all of Hanover, PA. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. on Tuesday at 10:00am. with the Rev. Loisann Furgess-Oler officiating.
Interment will be in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD.
The Family will receive friends on Monday from 6-9 pm.
