Ronald "Ron" Lander Judy, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at his home. Born on March 16, 1938 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, he was the son of the late William and Etta B. Thomas Judy. He was the husband of Janice Judy, his wife of 57 years. He is survived by one daughter: Johanna Judy, of Manchester.
Also surviving is a nephew: Alex Judy, a niece: Katerina Judy, three great nephews and a niece, all of San Francisco, CA. In addition, he is survived by sister-in-law: Elaine Cromer and husband John of Hanover, PA, brother-in-law: Herbert Tracey and wife Beverly of Manchester, and his special nieces: Amanda Sebunia and husband Joseph of Springfield, VA, and Kathryn Metzler and husband Dominik of Saratoga Springs, NY.
He was predeceased by a brother: Henry L. Judy.
Ron was a member of St. Jacobs (Stone) UCC in Glenville, PA, and Lazarus UCC in Lineboro, MD, and former member of Trinity UCC in Manchester, where he served on the consistory for many years. He was a member of Lineboro-Manchester Lions Club for 46 years, a Life Member of Manchester Volunteer Fire Company, served on the Manchester Bicentennial Committee in 1976, and served eight years in the 129 th Division of the Maryland National Guard.
He was a life-long sewing machine mechanic, having worked at William E. Hooper and Sons, Maryland Hampstead Clothing, and English American. He was the owner of Ron's Sewing Machines in Manchester for 21 years, and co-founder of Manchester Area Merchants Association.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 12, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A. 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, at 10 am, officiated by his pastor, Rev. Dr. Bruce Bouchard. Rev. Rodney Gross will provide special music. Interment to follow in Lineboro Cemetery, Inc., Manchester, MD.
The family wishes to express thanks to Dr. Rebecca Goedeke, Dr. Benjamin DuBois, Carroll Hospice, and Carroll Home Care of Maryland, for their care during his illness.
