Roy Derrett Harmon, Jr., 81, of Upperco died Monday, January 6, 2014 at North Pines Assisted Living in Manchester.
Born April 12, 1932 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Roy Derrett Harmon, Sr. and Mildred Marie Fisher Harmon. He was the husband of Lillian L. Small Harmon, who died in 1988.
He was a retired Lieutenant of the Baltimore County Fire Department. He was a member of the Sykesville American Legion, the Reisterstown Moose, and the Retired Baltimore County Fire Department Officer Association. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving are his children Roy "Bucky" Harmon, III and wife Diane of Upperco, Steve Glenn Harmon and wife Jeanette of Alexandria, VA, Lynn L. Harmon of Philadelphia, PA; his grandchildren Ryan Harmon, Courtney Kaltrider, Courtney Davenport, Andrea Dudley, Ashley Filpo, and Jamie Urby; and his 8 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sister Betty Walls.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester where a funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Dick Harden Officiating.
A private Interment will be in Druid Ridge Cemetery, Pikesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Staff of North Pines Assisted Living, 3316 Wilhelm Lane, Manchester.
