Roy "Bud" Herbert Harper, 92, of Manchester, MD, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022, at BridgingLife Dove House in Westminster, MD. Born on December 20, 1929, in Onego, WV, he was the son of the late Lannie G. and Carrie Smith Harper. He was the beloved husband of Gladys Marie Harper.
Bud was a proud veteran of the United States Army, and received a Purple Heart for his service in the Korean War. Years ago, he worked as a truck driver for Gray and Son. Bud enjoyed square dancing, traveling in his RV, gardening and working outside, and his John Deere tractors and equipment. He was a longtime member of Lazarus United Church of Christ.
Surviving him in addition to his wife are daughters: Michele Harper and Tammy Harper, grandchildren: Miranda Harper, Aaron Harper, and Jonah Cicchero, a great-granddaughter: Keeley Harper, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings: Paul Harper, Grover Harper, Katherine Warehime, Birtie Martin, Rosalee Fowler, Betty Moyer, Richard Harper, Mary Alice Hare, Blair Harper, and Mable Harper.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 26, at 11 am at Lazarus United Church of Christ, 5101 S Church Street, Lineboro, MD 21102. A luncheon will be held at the church after the service concludes. Regardless of vaccination status, masks are required and if you do not have one, one will be provided.
Interment is private.
