Roy Solomon Warehime

Roy Solomon Warehime, 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19, 2022. He was born on January 23, 1942 in Westminster, Maryland to Roy and Grace Warehime. He was married to Yvonne Warehime (née Coffey) on August 8, 1964.

He was a loving father to his four children, Cheryl Lewis, Connie Williams and husband David, Roy Warehime, Jr. and wife Cathy, and Gary Warehime and wife Kandi.

He was an adoring Pop Pop to six grandchildren, Cara Lewis, Heather Warehime, Amber Warehime, Delaney Warehime, Lauren Warehime, and Gary Warehime, Jr., and a doting great-grandfather to Piper Frieman.

Roy graduated from the eighth grade from Charles Carroll, when he left school to help his family on their farm in Silver Run. He worked first as a carpenter and then as a heavy equipment mechanic for C.J. Miller for nearly four decades.

Incredibly skilled with his hands, there was not a thing he could not fix or improve. As a young man, he enjoyed late model racing on dirt tracks, and when his sons continued the Warehime Racing legacy, he was a faithful advisor and pit crew member. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage on his 1934 Chevrolet – a project he never quite finished. He also enjoyed napping with his dogs and traveling in his RV to Myrtle Beach and the Smokey Mountains.

Roy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Yvonne, his brother Walter Warehime, his four children, six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, February 23, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 8 pm.

Interment is private.
