Sallie Zoe Hearn

Sallie "Zoe" Hearn, 93, of Reisterstown, MD, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023, at her home.  Born on February 9, 1929, in Jackson, MS, she was the daughter of the late Eric Hugh Ferdinando and Sallie Luse Reid Ferdinando.  She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. John Berkely Hearn, M.D., who passed away in 2017.

Zoe grew up in England. She was a young teenager while the war was taking place. She finished schooling at Queen Anne's School in Caversham, Berkshire.  Zoe and John married in 1956 after the war, they had their son, Michael, and in 1963, the family moved to the United States.  She supported her husband in his main interest of flying small planes and gliders, spending much of her life on small airfields. She enjoyed gardening, and had a practiced eye for buying and selling small antiques and jewelry.  She loved all animals, especially cats, and she even had ponies when she was a young girl living in England.  In her younger years she modeled the latest fashions, and as she got older, she applied her talents to residential real estate, including designing and building houses.  She was a member of St. Thomas Church, Garrison, MD, as well as the local Lakeview Pool Club.

Surviving her is a son: Michael Hearn of Towson, MD, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved cat: Kitty.

Zoe was predeceased by her siblings: Erica Wynne, Hugh Ferdinando, and Sarah Strow.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, February 13, from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 14, at 10:30 am, at St. Thomas Church, 232 St Thomas Ln, Owings Mills, MD 21117. The funeral service will be livestreamed.
