Samuel Augustus "Gus" Wagenfer, 81, of Owings Mills died Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the Dove House in Westminster.

Born December 17, 1926 in Baltimore and he was the son of the late Samuel Augustus Wagenfer, Sr. and Lily Miles Wagenfer. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Lee Sheeler Wagenfer, who died in 1997.

Mr. Wagenfer was a self employed roofer and had worked as a meat cutter. He loved to open the McDonald's in Reisterstown every morning and was a member of the Westminster Elks 2277, the Owing Mills V.F.W., Post 21, Reisterstown American Legion 116, and the Bucs Club.

He enjoyed playing golf and horse racing.

Surviving him are his daughters and son in law Betty Lee Beimschla of Hampstead, April Mae Zellmer of Owings Mills, and Tammy Sheeler-Lamp and Troy Lamp of Hagerstown, son and daughter in law Scott Miles Wagenfer and Kim Wagenfer of New Windsor; brother Herman Wagenfer; sister Evelyn Kirby of Arbutus; six grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills with Rev. Louis Piel officiating. Interment will private at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.

In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Carroll Hospice, Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157 or Owings Mills V.F.W., Post 21, 214 Tollgate Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117, Attn: Lt. Peter Zonchi.
