Shirley Viola Smith

Shirley Viola Smith, 82, of Upperco, MD, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Towson, MD. Born on April 14, 1936 in Upperco, MD, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Winfield and Sadie Bell Wisner Bull. She was the beloved wife of Charles William Smith, Sr.

Shirley was a talented musician and played in several bands among which were "Country Diamonds", "Country Notes", "Gold Notes", and "Charlie Stem and Cross Country".

Surviving in addition to her husband are children: Chuck Smith and wife Terry of Upperco, MD, and Kimberly Snyder of Abbottstown, PA, grandchildren: Megan, Eric, Daulton, and Melanie, and a sister: Dorothy L. Shaffer of Upperco, MD.

She was predeceased by a sister: Della Irene Shock.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, December 6, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 am. Interment to follow in Forest Ridge Cemetery, Upperco, MD.
